SEO Lies and SEO Truths

POSTED BY socialdude on Apr 24 under rankings

SEO deals with research and analysis and one can call him as a SEO specialist only through good long-term experience in various theme based industries and business sites.

I read many lies around the web and I would like to share my point of view here to my blog readers

Lie one – Come to us with $ we will get you #1 position for your keyword by a day, a week or a month. And some proudly say that if an SEO company doesn’t guarantee then they don’t know SEO. So funny, may be they have the access to the Google organic listing Database or they might be talking about Google Adwords (PPC)

As a SEO client you can challenge those companies whom guarantees. Find and provide them a high or medium competitive keyword or keywords. Find those related theme based keywords using free Google keyword tool. You can see the fact on such.

I don’t say #1 is not possible at all; it has to come though long time period based on so many acts and figures and not by a day, a week or a month. Use your commonsense, Google search your top keyword and find how your competitor ranks and in total how many competitors and in how many years of efforts. These types of basic analyses will educate you to find what is possible within a timeframe.

As well check that the company does “While hat SEO” and they are not into keyword stuffing and to all bad practice that are against Google guidelines, known as black hat SEO.

Note: May be, weak keywords with no search count or a very low search count keywords can be achieved in a short time, see that it reflects your ROI or it is a waste of time and money.

Lie Two – SEO is all about number of links. We build 10,000 links over night. Pay us $ for the links and get referral traffic and organic listing.

There are companies who build links with software’s or host directories in their servers for link backs. Do ask them for quality links rather than quantity links. Ranging from a small site to big site, quality links on an average 20 to 50 a month will do with traffic and results you look for.

Lie Three – Pay us $, we rephrase your competitor content based on your top keywords and list top above your competitor listing.

It is not the fact, now Google and other search engines are so smart to find those and push the results back. May be for few days the content lists in top but no use looking at long term.

Write content on what you offer in your own style and write content on what you know about the business practice and resources. Do not duplicate the same resources in different forms. Write better information than your competitor. Make readers happy, and then obviously search engines will make you happy.

Lie Four – Some web design or development companies says we do not build links every month so like other SEO companies we do not charge for SEO maintenance. Links are not that important now. Only keywords are important and we do add keywords to your site and it is only one time SEO setup and one time charge.

Off-page optimization (Link building) is as important as on-page optimizations (Site and keywords optimization). Quality links with site keywords as anchor text is one of the major factor in SEO and non-SEO companies lack knowledge on these areas like site submission to right directories and sites.

Lie Five – Money back offer is a catching word that attracts so many SEO clients. They present in such a way that they return the money if they do not obtain the results. They mix the strong keywords, weak keywords and keywords that do not have user search count. In few months when SEO client don’t get business through SEO they asks for results and they are shown with keywords that has no search count or weak keywords position that do not produce quality traffic.

SEO client, when you see Money back offer in SEO sites or emails, then provide them the keywords you like your site to get listed. See that the user count for those keywords are high and medium, then your $ will be valued.

Note: The blog post points to some SEO companies and not all

Top 1 of the Bottomless SEO Tips

POSTED BY socialdude on Mar 31 under rankings

Study your competitor first and then proceed to on-pages and off page optimization. A business owner can come forward to study his online competitors for his services or products. At the end of the day he is the seller earner or looser.

If you do SEO yourself or contact a SEO professional, first thing you need is to know through what search keywords your product or services can be sold through Search Engines. If you hire a person, then work closely with the person to give an idea on what all service you offer and how much you can offer.

As a business owner you are the person who knows everything that can be offered and you will be knowing limitation if any. Suppose if you can only sell your service to limited customers or can sell only minimum number of products a day then you can go for weak search keywords were you have a user hit between hundreds. Weak keywords with right optimization can brig results easily.

Before starting SEO, think about you or your business strength and start your campaign. If you can offer service or products larger in size then it is well and good to start with a combination of weak and strong keywords that has few hundred and thousand users hits.

Will Google Buzz help SEO’s?

POSTED BY socialdude on Feb 13 under rankings

As we all know link building is one of the big factor for SEO and to one of my old email account I get loads of mails asking for link exchange on various industries. Btw, I have no idea how the email id has been spread out :)

Link exchangers send their mails with information and criteria for reciprocal links. As Google buzz launched few days back, is based on a Gmail service that has a follow and unfollow system like twitter with a revolutionize in concept having an option to post comments to individual followers, showing liking to the buzz among the followers and emailing the buzz to desired people.

Through all these manner it will help link exchangers to post there reciprocal sites with information specific to their industry related followers and the work would be much more easier and sustained, compared to mass mail as of now ;)

Feel free to post your comments on how Google Buzz can be used.

Does Google treat all links equally?

POSTED BY socialdude on Sep 28 under rankings

This is a question many think about when they deal with SEO. Does Google treat all links equally? . I will say a big NO.

There are different types of links, search engine algorithm evaluates and ranks. Here they go,

Internal links and External links – Both links are treated differently. If the External links are bad neighborhood sites then there are chances for your site to be dropped in search engine listing. Internal links spreads link juice according to the number of times the pages are interlinked.

Relevant links and irrelevant links – If your website link to irrelevant theme site then there are possibilities for your site to rank low.

Paid links or purchased links – Google and few search engines do not encourage Paid links that helps to pass link juice and this is considered as violation of Google’s webmaster guidelines. As well all Paid links are not considered as violation. There are few solutions like adding no follow attribute to the link and by redirecting the link to a page that has been blocked by robots.txt.

Anchor text HTML Links – Within the site the HTML links with Anchor text has the most value and passes good amount of link juice.

Image Links – within the site Image links with most suitable and relevant ALT attribute gets the second level value and link juice.

JavaScript Links – As per the latest update Google started crawling these links but gets the third level value and link juice.

At this point, as far as links are concerned it plays vital role in both on-page and off-page optimization. So start planning before you go with the types of links.

Does Blogging help SEO?

POSTED BY socialdude on Jan 22 under rankings

A much talked about topic of discussion, with respect to blogging and SEO. So does blogging actually help SEO? Well I would definitely say a strong and bold YES! Having been in this optimization industry for quite some time now, I have always found myself preaching people interested to make their blogs work for them and their organization, about many advantages that blogs are sure to bring, when seen from the SEO point of view.

I have put some of my ideas that I have always found as reasons how blogs can be useful for search engine optimization:

Refreshing and latest content:

Blogs usually contain content relating to the present state and also stuff that is fresh and good to be read, apart from the stale information that has been repeated by every other site. This kindles an interest in the readers to come back to your blog and keep them updated of whatever you write. This helps in getting more traffic to your site, thereby helping in optimizing your site.

Planned writing and proper content categorization:

When blogs are written on specific themes and categorized based on the topics, it makes it much easier for the search engines to spot your blog content easily, as they understand your blog much better when categorized properly.

Easy URL structure of blogs:

Usually blogs have simple URL structures. This helps the search engines to track the blogs easily, thereby conveying the message in your blogs to many other readers out there.

Deep linking:

Deep linking of anchor texts in service related blogs, to information about the product or shopping pages, that are located deep inside the site, also proves to be highly useful, especially for long keyword phrases.

Linking among blogs:

When the content in blogs relate to each other, blogs can be linked together. Also when media attachments like audio, video and the likes are attached to blogs, they attract the attention of readers, which also adds to blog marketing.

Interactive advantage in blogs:

Make use of the advantage of interaction among the writer and the readers, in Blogs, among the readers. This is possible using trackback features, comments section in the blogs and the likes. Also, readers who have liked a particular blog or post, might even mention about your posts in their blogs or any other social media communities, that assists in getting more visitors to your blog, further resulting in incoming links. This, in turn, helps in the search engines to spot your blog easily, thereby ranking it among the top pages.

Register in Twitter.com:

Twitter is one of the best social messaging site that is free to use. Register in Twitter by adding your profile to it. Don’t forget to give this link when you give any good and valuable suggestions in other top blogs, along with following profiles of people who relate to your kind of writing. This way many will follow your profile as well. Now once this is done, as and when you write blogs you can post the link of it in your twitter page. Automatically your (my) profile followers would get the link and they would go through the content as well and also get benefit of tweets. This results in many inbound links and clicks, thereby increasing my SEO ranking as well.

RSS traffic:

Subscription to your RSS feeds would get in a good source of traffic into your blog site. And once the traffic is in, automatically the search engine rankings also increase.

Additional benefits of blogging:

The Directories advantage! Now that your blog has RSS feeds, it is possible that your blog would be clearly seen in the RSS and blog directories and search engines.

Hope above Tips and Ideas will help you understand how much Blog helps SEO :) Try out and let me know your feedback, cheers

Then wondering why still is your website not visible in the top searches of search engines? There could be many reasons why still your website is being buried somewhere deep inside the search engine results.

Let us analyze one by one as to what the probable and top reasons could be:

    • First and foremost thing to start with is to choose URLs that are keyword driven, so that users land exactly on your website when they type those keywords!
    • The first best thing would be to check if your website has been listed in the search engines or not. This can be checked by typing out the website URL in the search engines and checking out if the result is showing your website as a result or not. It should ideally show a result of your own website, thereby proving that your site is actually listed.
    • Getting search engine visibility takes time. It does not happen just like that. You need to spend more of your time and effort on it, just like it takes time to build up a new business and establish it. Though the results are not SO long to be seen, still it done need to have some time for itself too, to get established and familiar for the search engines. Now this does not mean you just fill your website with keywords, just for the sake of getting listed in search engines. You must write articles in such a way that are meaningful, relevant to your website at the same time uses important keywords that your visitors might search for in search engines.
Title tag title tag title tag!!! Get this phrase embedded in your brain! The area in the HTML pages that asks for page title is where you must include keyword or keyword phrases, in order to get attention of the search engines.
    • Next thing would be to include ALT tags to the images in the website. This also helps in the images in your website to participate and contribute its share to search engine optimization.
    • How popular is your website among the search engines? This is the next question that you must be asking yourself. Popularity of a website increases with more of quality inbound links. The more other websites would link to your website, the more your website’s popularity increases among the net, thereby the search engines. This is done by link building, wherein you submit your website links to other quality and related websites, in order to develop site popularity.
    • Finally create a business blog and update your current key services, products or any value added information which can help your business as well as your visitor. This can boost your search engine visibility and traffic

Well as I already said, there are many other things that might be one of the reasons hindering your website from coming anywhere near the top search results. But these are few of the important reasons.
